Apres Spotlight – Riverhorse On Main

Winter in Park City is considered one of the busiest times of the year for local restaurants, which typically means an end to the two-for-one coupons and other great specials around town; however, one of Main Street’s best kept secrets can be found nightly at Riverhorse on Main between 5-7 p.m. In an attempt to keep locals coming in during the busy times, Riverhorse will be featuring nightly food and drink specials in their lounge area.

The lounge area consists of eight bar stools or three high top tables that can fit up to four people per table. But remember, the lounge is first come first serve, so make sure to plan ahead and arrive close to 5 p.m. to ensure a comfortable seat. Guests will find a different flavored popcorn to snack on every night. There seems to be no shortage to the kitchen’s creativity at Riverhorse. Chef Dan Vesey has been known to mix flavors such as dill pickle, Sriracha cream and even a cinnamon crunch flavored popcorn.

There is a little bit of something for everyone on the Riverhorse happy hour menu, and prices are reasonable, ranging from $1.50 fresh oysters to a delicious $10 burger. Drink specials include two $5 bottled beers, a local Uinta Bristlecone Brown Ale and a Sessions Lager.

Perhaps you prefer a glass of wine after skiing all day. There are two wines featured, as well. Both wines being $8, patrons can choose from a Trapiche malbec to a Votre Sante chardonnay.  There are also a couple cocktail specials featured nightly that range from $8-$12.

The food choices on the menu are designed for people looking to get a quick bite to eat after work, or those who need to eat something smaller to hold them over for a late dinner reservation. Chef Seth Adams and Chef de Cuisine Dan Vesey have created a diverse but simple menu for the happy hour. Some of the smaller fares include deviled eggs that are prepared fresh daily or a rosemary flat bread served with local goat cheese, balsamic and arugula.  Seafood lovers will be delighted with $1.50 fresh oysters on the half shell or lump crab cakes made with sweet corn and drizzled with cilantro cream sauce.

There are also a couple of entrees that can be purchased at a reasonable price as well. A delicious three cheese mac and cheese for $7 features cheddar, Swiss and Parmesan cheeses tossed in an orecchiette pasta and finished with breadcrumbs.

The Riverhorse Burger, at $10, is practically a bargain for what you get; an 8 ounce patty served with brie cheese, bacon out of Salt Lake and truffle mustard, all on a local Red Bicycle everything bun. If the burger isn’t mouthwatering enough, wait until you try savory polenta fries that come on the side. Those alone will keep you coming back for more. Finally, for those with a sweet tooth, the salted brownie ice cream sandwich served with house-made coffee ice cream will surely satisfy our dessert craving.
