Apres Spotlight | The Corner Store

Park City Mountain Resort has some great apres ski options. Between Legends Bar and Grill, Baja Cantina, Pig Pen Saloon, and during the appropriate months, the easy access to Main Street via the Town Lift runs. One location at the base of PCMR, The Corner Store, seems to have it all, including the locals’ approval. A great place to start and end your day, The Corner Store offers everything from delicious breakfast burritos and fresh coffee in the morning, excellent lunch options and even daily drink specials.

Park City Dining, Park City RestaurantsOne can also find live music almost every Thursday at the plaza, featuring different local and nationally known musical acts. More importantly, this apres location is rich in culture and still has the old time ski resort feel to it. Perhaps it’s the wooden sled out front or the old skis hanging on the walls that gives this bar the old time feel, but the history of a family business attributes just as much to the atmosphere of the Corner Store.

Breakfast on the mountain – a delicious scramble loaded with veggies

In 1974, The Corner Store was opened by Doilney brothers Mike and Jim after leaving their jobs on the East Coast to become ski bums. The apres ski location quickly gained a reputation as the meeting and party place for Park City locals. After a couple short years, the store changed ownership but continued its reputation as the place to apres ski. Eventually coming full circle in 2004, (after a decade long name change from 1994-2004) the son of Jim Doilney, Max, reopened The Corner Store with its original name as his parents once did.  The tight-knit, family feel environment contributes to keeping the food tasting so consistent.

Those planning to spend an entire day on the mountain can find everything they need at The Corner Store.  Skiers can start their day with a great breakfast. Choose between a variety of filling breakfast burritos, including the Southwestern, which has eggs, pepper jack cheese, chorizo and avocado, hearty scrambles with your choice of fillings, and even a traditional Sourdough, egg, and cheddar cheese sandwich.  They even offer pancakes and an la carte menu where you can choose from a side of bacon, veggie sausage, toast etc. (Breakfast served daily until 11 a.m.).

Built my own burger – turkey patty + mushrooms + spinach + all the necessary condiments

After a morning of shredding at PCMR, one can find a mixture of locals and tourists alike soaking up the sun on the patio of the Corner Store. Whether you are craving a smoked turkey and cranberry or pulled pork sandwich, a burger, or even a salad, one is sure to find something that will satisfy his or her craving.  The build your own burger is a local favorite; starting with your choice of a 1\3 pound chuck ground beef, turkey burger or grilled chicken patty, accompanied by the usual lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. But, you are allowed to add anything from bleu cheese to bacon to green chilies to spinach for an additional 99 cents per item.  Make sure you order their iconic waffle fries to go alongside!

If neither a sandwich nor a burger suits your fancy, you can find some other items such as nachos, a Caesar salad, and even succulent chicken wings that come in buffalo, barbecue honey, or plain flavored.

The Corner Stores iconic waffle fries

As winter comes to a close and the snow continues to melt, as the locals and tourists transition into their preferred summer sports, there will always remain a constant following at PCMR. The Corner Store Pub & Grill will be the site of multiple closing day parties Sunday, host to one last musical performance Thursday, and will always continue to be the most packed and liveliest places to apres ski at Park City Mountain Resort during the winter months. Whether you are stopping in for a bite to eat or a local beer on Wasatch Beer Friday’s, you will almost always hear the reminiscing of some skiers discussing their last few epic days on the mountain. Make sure you stop by before or on one of the biggest closing day parties on April 19th! You won’t want to miss it.
