Like many Americans, you may be waking up post Super Bowl with a bit of a hangoverĀ today. So, we wanted to share the recipe of one of our favorite remedies from our friends at Tupelo,Ā forĀ delicious chicken fried steak sliders. These delicious Southern-style breaded cutlets are smothered with gravy and served on a warm roll, and perfectly finished with bread and butter pickles. This recipe makes eightĀ savory sliders that will help the whole crew recover, and don’t forget, toĀ really make the meal complete, try Tupelo’sĀ equally tasty Bloody Mary recipe!
Ingredients
- FRYING FLOUR:
- 1 pound flour
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon fine ground sea salt
- 2 teaspoon paprika
- PEPPER GRAVY:
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 strip of bacon, small diced
- 2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- ADDITIONAL:
- 8 sirloin steaks thinly pounded
- 1/2 gallon buttermilk
- 8 slider buns
- 16 bread and butter pickles
Instructions
- Place steak in buttermilk for two hours.
- In saucepan, saute bacon until crispy.
- Add flour for gravy mixture to saucepan and toast for one minute.
- Pour buttermilk and milk into the saucepan and slowly mix together with a whisk.
- Reduce the gravy mixture until thick and simmer.
- After 2 hours, remove steaks from buttermilk and place in flour, being sure to coat each side well
- Pan fry the steaks until they are crispy.
- Warm the slider buns.
- Place one crispy steak on bun with two pickles and top with gravy.
