Yep, the time has come for us to prepare and remind you of another holiday and how to gift appropriately. This time, it’s gifting for that great man and fatherly figure in your life. The one that taught you how to play catch, ride your first pair of skis or bike, tie a fly, drive a car, change a spare, or for us little girls, try so desperately hard to do your hair while mom was out of town. We have some great ideas and inspiration for you this year to make dad feel special without giving him that grill accessory that ends up in the grill accessories drawer.
High West Rendezvous Whiskey
“This may not be the musical mashup your dad loves to rock out to in the car, but it will definitely help him in the dancing department. Rendezvous is made by marrying a rich, aromatic 16-year-old rye whiskey with the bold and spicy flavors of a 6-year-old rye whiskey. The combination is an incredibly bold, unique whiskey that is sure to put a little hop in Pop’s step. And while his dance moves may not be award winning, this whiskey is — it was named one of the Top 10 New Whiskies of the Year by Whisky Advocate.” – thrillist.com Give dad a nationally recognized, delicious local libation from High West Whiskey Distillery for those nights where nightcaps are just necessary.
Park City Brewery Tour
Of course dad loves beer, but in all honestly and in addition to that, all dad really wants is to spend quality time with you, so why not combine the two? Park City’s newest brewery, Park City Brewery, offers tours. What better way to spend the day with dad than learning about and drinking some locally made beer? Take the whole family and make a day of it. Click here to inquire about booking a tour.
Guided Fly Fishing
Park City is lucky to have some seriously talented anglers. Whether your dad has experience or not, he will have a blast out on the river with some of our town’s best. Between Jan’s, Trout Bum 2, Park City Angler’s, and Utah Pro Fly Fishing, you are guaranteed to reel them in while spending quality time on the water. Maybe even let him show you how to tie a fly on the end of your line, just for old time’s sake.
Gifts at Park Silly Market
After perusing the stalls last Sunday at the Park Silly Market, the Father’s day inspiration was endless. Local hot sauces, spice kits, art, leather jewelry, picture frames, mugs, chocolate, beef jerky, locally made coffee, tie dye clothing, and much much more. Good thing there’s another one left before Father’s Day! Head to lower main street this Sunday. You’re almost guaranteed to find something for Dad.
Gift Certificate to Silver Star Ski & Sport
With this, dad has loads of options. Bike rentals, paddleboard rentals, tuning and repair of the bike he already has, golf club service, apparel, helmets, accessories. He will go nuts. Click here for more info.
A Massage / Spa Treatment
If your dad is anything like mine, he could probably get a massage every day of his life and it still wouldn’t be enough. Dads work hard and they deserve to get those knots worked out and take time for themselves. For a wonderful massage treatment without the bells and whistles of a spa, head to Knead A Massage. For the dads that would like to make a bit more of a day of it and really soak it up, book him a treatment at the spa at Waldorf Astoria, The Montage, Remede Spa at St. Regis, the spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge or Zugati Spa at Main & Sky. All are fantastic options and dad will be thanking you for days.
A Round of Golf
If your dad is a golfer and you really want to treat him this year, take him to the Promontory Golf Course where if he’s never been before, he will be wowed by what a beautiful mountain setting and fun course it is. Promontory features two golf courses; the Pete Dye Canyon Course and the Painted Valley Course—a Jack Nicklaus signature design. Golf Digest magazine ranked the Dye and Nicklaus courses the #2 and #3 in Utah, respectively. Spend the afternoon afterward at Hearth Grill, discussing the great game you just played.
When it comes down to it, all dad really wants is to spend quality time with the family, trust me, but hopefully these ideas will help make your old man feel as special as he is this year.
