Kathryn Blanken has a passion, beautiful taste and talent for floral arrangements. With her husband Doug, she decided to follow a long time dream and open up Flowers By You last year. They wanted to provide stunning, high-quality flowers to Park City, but also wanted to provide a service where they could teach customers how to create their own arrangements.
We asked Flowers By You to come out to our Dishing employee party at Stein Eriksen Residences and teach us how to make terrariums to see what the classes were all about. Kathryn is delightful and a terrific teacher to those of us who may be more “Pinterest Fail” inclined.
We had a blast!

Flowers By You provides all the materials you need for your creation. Because we were making “terrarium bubbles,” Kathryn brought glass bubble vases, soil, plants, rocks, sands and even some shells for a finishing touch.

Kathryn walked us through each step and explained tricks like placing rocks at the bottom of the vase to ensure roots don’t drown if they get over-watered. Also, to use a spray bottle to moisten the plants’ soil as you place in the arrangement so they don’t fall apart.

Learning how to create something new together was a terrific team-building experience. We all thought it was a fun way for friends to get together or for work retreats. A fantastic activity to learn how to create the perfect summer table centerpiece!
