‘Tis the Sundance season. The two week festival is a celebration of humankind, the arts, and our charming town. It is also a time where locals’ daily routines are flipped on their heads, and we avoid Main Street unless for a film or party. We have crafted a guide for those who are looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of our beloved Main Street and are in need of a great breakfast. Here are our recommendations for the best breakfast spots off-Main:
Versante Hearth + Bar
The hearth and bar features an elevated buffet style breakfast with buttermilk pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and fixings for a good old fashioned breakfast plate. My favorite buffet item is the rightfully named Green Hash with broccolini, zucchini, spinach, green peppers, onion, potatoes, and goat cheese; just top with some eggs and you’re set. One of the best parts about eating breakfast at Versante is their complimentary hearth-baked cinnamon rolls. Located in the Peaks Hotel at 2346Park Ave and is accessible through Park City Transit’s free bus system via the 2-Green, 3-Blue, 7-Pink, and 16-Lime lines.
Breakfast Buffet: 7-11 a.m. daily
No matter what day of the week it is, five5eeds is busy with locals enjoying craft coffee, like their Nitro Cold Brew, and flavorful dishes made from local and seasonal ingredients. Their menu is fail-proof with savory and sweet options like the acai bowl, shakshouka, short bib Benedict, and smashed avocado toast. Throughout their nourishing menu you’ll find nods to Australian food from which the restaurant hails. five5eeds is located at 1600 Snow Creek Drive and is easily accessible through most bus lines.
Open for Breakfast Daily at 7:30am
Squatters Roadhouse Grill
Squatters is the best spot to please everybody; their menu has everything from a vegan breakfast burrito to chicken fried steak and eggs to chilaquiles. Their delicious brew is from Millcreek Roasters in Salt Lake City and pairs well with early morning and late brunches. This is the best spot to go to if you’re looking for both breakfast and a craft local beer (starting at 11:30)! Situated at 1900 Park Ave. Squatters is easily accessible by bus on 2-Green, 3-Blue, 7-Pink, and 16-Lime.
Open for breakfast daily at 8 a.m.
This is Park City’s Indo-Persian hidden gem. Their challah French toast is wonderfully vanilla-cinnamon spiced. If you’re not feeling like a wholly sweet breakfast dish, just order it as a side. You won’t regret it. When in Rome, however, a personal favorite is the Punjabi egg masala with sautéed onion, garlic, ginger, green chili, tomato, and lentils. The Bollywood Burrito with delicious vindaloo sauce is another deliciously unique option. Nestled at 1782 Prospector Ave. in Prospector Square, Good Karma is accessible via the 5-Yellow line.
Open for Breakfast Daily at 8am.
With this list of best restaurants off Main, go forth during Sundance, fill your bellies and maybe even enjoy the (somewhat) empty slopes!
