Service Shines at Waldorf Astoria Powder

Park City eateries have a tough go sometimes. Hungry, deal-seeking locals and visitors in the know rush to take advantage of quiet season dining deals and pack restaurants to the gills. It can be a little nuts, to say the least. Especially when a popular restaurant like Powder at the Waldorf Astoria in Park City decides to host a limited time offering of a two-for-one deal. A group of friends headed up from Salt Lake, we made a reservation, and looked forward to an evening filled with amazing food.

Patience Pays off at Powder

The ultimate charcuterie with artisan cheese and meat.

Upon arrival, our table wasn’t quite ready – never a big deal when a bar is on hand. We enjoyed a pre-meal aperitif and good conversation, but noted the time seemed to be growing a bit long. To no fault of the restaurant’s, diners were lingering. This is where a dining establishment has an opportunity to shine and showcase exceptional service, and boy did they ever. The service team sorted out a way to pull a couple of tables together for us after our long wait, and we arrived to a beautiful, complimentary chacuterie platter perfectly paired with a delicious glass of Riesling. The perfect reparation for an extended wait. Filled with local and artisan cheeses, meats, dried fruit jams and mustard, it was the ideal beginning to what turned out to be one of the best meals we have all had in Park City.

Amazing Fall Menu Choices at Powder

Amazing buffalo tenderloin prepared to perfection.

Diners have a choice between a lovely pre-fixe tasting menu with suggested wine pairings, or ordering off the regular menu and taking advantage of the two-for-one deal; our table’s choice, although the tasting menu looked amazing! We began with the ahi poke starter, which was artfully plated and filled with fresh flavors – an instant favorite. Our table leaned toward the meat entrees, ordering both the prime flat iron steak and guajillo-rubbed buffalo tenderloin – we did have one guest order and love the sumptuous foraged mushroom pot pie with truffles. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the flavor profiles were out of this world. I generally don’t order a beef entrée; however, after a little encouragement from our amazing server, I folded and went for it with no regrets.

A Sweet End to the Evening

Rich, creamy chocolate pot de creme.

After an evening filled with wonderful service, divine food and perfectly paired wine and cocktails, and it being the eve of my birthday – we didn’t feel guilty at all in ordering up a couple of desserts for the table. We chose the chocolate pot de crème served whimsically in a mason jar and the nutmeg crème brulee. Again, no surprise, both were out of this world tasty.

Between the mountain modern ambiance, the fantastic service and the phenomenal food, Powder at Waldorf Astoria in Park City will surely become an instant favorite.
