Sundance Midway Escape

The chaos of Sundance takes over the Park City area today, but have no fear because Midway is here to provide you with a beautiful escape. A trip to Midway in the winter wouldn’t be the same without a trip to the now famous Ice Castle. You also can get there quickly and easily with the help of our friends at Four Seasons Concierge, the exclusive transportation company for the castle. Explore more below about the dreamy icy haven, some great dining options for before or after, and Four Seasons Transportation.

MIDWAY ICE CASTLES

After a short ride from Park City to Midway, you can find the photo mecca that is the Ice Castle. The castle itself is located directly next to the Homestead Crater and it has a natural feel, almost like being inside a glacier. The castle experience itself started in Utah and has now expanded to four states and Canada. The castle team grows and harvests 5,000 to 10,000 icicles per day, and they paste them into place using water then hose them down in layers to create arches, tunnels, caves and slides. Once the weather is cold enough, it takes four weeks and about 8,000 man-hours to complete a castle.

You purchase attendance in time slots of 30 minutes, during which time you can explore the castle that is about an acre and a half, and has two large slides, and three kids slides. Within the ice structures are color changing lights and water features, accompanied by perfectly paired tunes. They have Disney Frozen characters certain times a week, along with occasional other acts as well.  Check the website for special appearances and performances!  The castle time slots sell out often, so we recommend to book in advance.  CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS

MIDWAY TRANSPORTATION + YOUR SUNDANCE SOURCE FOR HELP

We asked our friends at Four Seasons Concierge, exclusive transportation company for the Ice Castles, to help give us some inside information on their services and Sundance.  Serving the Park City area for just over 3 years, with 14 SUVs and Vans in their fleet, and a wide variety of a la carte services, they are always at your service with everything you could need!

What kind of availability do you have for Sundance transportation still?

We are quickly filling up during peak travel and screening times during the Sundance Film Festival. Opening weekend is getting full very quickly as is transportation from the Airport (ThursdaySaturday) and transportation to the Airport (SundayTuesday). Midweek slows down a little bit after the chaos of Opening Weekend tapers off… and then we do it all over again for Closing Weekend.

Do you have any special / unique services you offer for Sundance?

We specialize is working with Locals getting them between their screenings and movies. All of our Associates are familiar with the area and are knowledgeable with the side streets and shortcuts to avoid a lot of the traffic. Locals really like that our cars show-up on time (with as little as 1 hour or less of notice, unlike many others that require 24 hours advance notice), that we do not charge for “travel time”, and most importantly that our prices NEVER SURGE unlike Uber and Lyft.

Do you wait for guests while they explore the ice castles?

We do offer this service, but most of the visitors set a pick-up time and would rather save money instead of paying us to wait. In our experience, most visitors to the Midway Ice Castles stay for several hours exploring the entire venue.

What is your favorite part about Park City?
The outdoors and variety of activities and events makes Park City an amazing community. We pinch ourselves every morning and feel blessed to live in such an amazing surrounding and community.
They offer their Clients access to their own transportation app, which can be downloaded by visiting www.fsparkcity.com/app.
