Take Us To Church

The brand new Church Public House has only been open since Dec. 30, and since then they have been busy supplying the Park City and Sundance crowd with a unique drinking and dining experience.  They are conveniently located in the former Blue Iguana location, across from the old Kimball Arts Center at 628 Park Avenue, and not only have an interesting bar concept but delicious food as well.  “Heaven” is located on their second floor, a blissful and relaxing bar, and “Hell” is located right adjacent where you can let your mischievous side loose.  We sat down with owner Mike Diamond to get the scoop on his new establishment.

What made you decide to choose Park City to open your business?
I have loved and had been coming to Park City from Southern California for many years. After deciding to buy a bar on lower Main St, Lindzee O’Michaels, with a partner toward the end of 2013, I moved to Park City in May 2014, to transition and rebrand Lindzee O’Michaels into The Cabin. I parted ways with The Cabin in August 2016.   Moving to Park City was a dream come true.  I love everything about this place, except maybe the wintertime traffic, which somewhat reminds me of Los Angeles.

What makes your establishment different or unique?
Everything about Church Public House is different and unique. From our unique design aspect, individually themed rooms, decor, furnishings and menu. We didn’t want to look like a typical restaurant or bar and our buildings floorplan naturally lends itself to a creative design. We have couches, comfy chairs, proper dining tables, bar stools etc. Depending on your mood, group reason for coming, you are sure to find a space that comfortably fits your needs.

What is your favorite part so far since being open?
I love the creativity coming out of our kitchen, as our menu is changing and evolving weekly. I also love the different dining or lounging options we offer.

What is a brief history of Church Public House and where do you see it in the future?
After leaving The Cabin, I was looking for my next venture. Once I found this space, it took a little time trying to figure out the best use of space and concept.  The name Church Public House, as well as the unique building with historical significance, gave our design team unlimited possibilities to be as creative as they wanted. I see the unique Church Public House brands having multiple locations in strategically determined locations. Our concept is just a whole lot of fun, why not let it grow?

How would you describe your food offerings?
I think a good way to describe our food is modern, eclectic, comfort food. Our menu items include for breakfast: veggie scramble with fresh avocado, breakfast tacos, biscuits and gravy, fried chicken and waffle, breakfast burrito, custom omelettes and more.

Lunch and Dinner: braised beet salad, chicken and quinoa salad, roasted apples and rutabaga, Niman Ranch grass fed beef burger, pasta carbonara, cast iron chicken, grilled halibut fish tacos, Wild Isles Scottish grilled Salmon, Two Rivers New York strip and much much more.

We are currently in the process of adding additional menu items, a small plate/tapas menu and house made desserts

Anything else you would like to share with the community?
Come in and give us a try for breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails and appetizers. We have a DJ to groove up dinner on most weekends and lives bands a couple of times per month.  We will also be starting a gospel brunch this spring and through the summer, and an outdoor patio dining once the weather warms up. We look forward to seeing everyone at Church!
