We always hear that dark chocolate is so good for us, but how? At Ritual Chocolate you know this saying is true.
Ritual Chocolate is a new addition to Park City. Not only do they make their chocolate right there in the back, but their precise process in creating their chocolate is fascinating. They have spent years finding the best farms in Peru, Belize, Madagascar and Ecuador for their cacao beans. They buy their beans based on flavor. The better the flavor better the farm quality. A quality cacao farm maintains and gives back to the environment. With each batch of cacao beans, they hand select all the beans used in their chocolate making.
Dark chocolate has many nutrients in it, such as magnesium, iron, potassium and healthy fats. Dark chocolate has been shown to lower blood pressure and improves blood flow. It also contains caffeine, a mild stimulant, that won’t keep you up late night. Dark chocolate helps keep your blood vessels healthy and your circulation unimpaired to protect against diabetes. Chocolate has been shown to improve sport performance when eaten day of your activity. Who knew chocolate was so great for us?
Ritual Chocolate cares about every ingredient they add to their chocolate. They do not use extra cocoa butter in their chocolate, and any sugar added is organic fair trade. They make their chocolate with just two ingredients: carefully selected cacao and cane sugar. There are many steps that go into creating a full flavor artisan chocolate bar. Step by step, Ritual makes their chocolate carefully by roasting, winnowing, grinding, mix, refining and conching/splashing, a weeklong process for a bar to be made. You know there is much love and concentration going into each chocolate bar you get from Ritual Chocolate.
Not only does Ritual have chocolate bars, but they have many different chocolate-infused snacks to try. They make their own chocolate granola, and when served with almond milk is a snack at its finest. They have their own spin on a Nutella-type spread (but healthier of course), made from chocolate and almonds they serve on local breads.
If you haven’t I highly suggest trying their sipping chocolate. To my surprise this was creamy, full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The owners of Ritual Chocolate believe in a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle and hope one day to become the new pit stop for cyclists on long rides. Not only do they have their own store located in town of Park City, but you can find their chocolate bars at Atticus, Whole Foods, Harmons, Tony Caputo’s and Liberty Heights. Stop by Ritual for chocolate, cupping and coffee tasting Fridays at noon followed by factory tours.
