Welcome Crystal Park Cantina to Main Street Park City

Park City’s newest dining experience, Crystal Park Cantina, located at 412 Main Street, is a refreshing and unique twist on Mexican fare. Originally established in 2011 in Manitou Springs, Colo., this family owned restaurant serves Mexican infused sensations by Anne Armour, mother of former Denver Bronco, Justin Armour. Bringing Crystal Park Cantina to Park City was the idea of longtime local Doug Illman, who is good friends with Armour. Infusing his love for Mexican food and the culture that surrounds it, Illman found Crystal Park Cantina the perfect fit to return to business ownership on Main Street.

The Bar

For longtime locals, the bar at 412 Main Street has seen it’s fair share of cocktail service. Completely redesigned, the bar is a light and comfortable space that serves up some of the best margaritas using a signature, all-natural margarita mix and gently pasteurized lemon, lime and orange juices. Their simple syrups are also all house-made with organic cane sugars. You can taste the difference in the jalapeno cilantro margarita with fresh muddled cilantro and jalapenos. Or try the sangria margarita: a fusion of Spanish and Mexican traditional cocktails.

The Food

The most unique part about Crystal Park Cantina’s menu is that it’s not totally traditional Tex-Mex food. You will find little twists on each menu item, making it affordable Mexican-fusion cuisine. The rice, served with all entrees, is saffron infused for a little taste of Spain.

The empanadas are stuffed with a blend of meat, raisins and green olives, lending a Chilean flavor, and the chimichurri sauce is reminiscent of Argentina. Everything is made in house, including the authentic mole sauce constructed with a chocolate base from Puebla, a truly Southern influence.

I’m a sucker for a big plate of nachos and a fresh margarita pretty much anytime of the day. The Cantina nachos didn’t disappoint. Sitting in the newly renovated dining room with the windows and side doors flung open, you can eat al fresco under the big red umbrellas and watch the hustle and bustle of Main Street while dining.

Crystal Park Cantina has been open less than a month, so while they are focusing on providing the best food and dining experience, don’t be surprised to find weekly and daily specials making it to the menu along with entertainment upstairs in the bar.
