50 Ways to Love Your Bourbon

Our bar celebrates America’s distillers, both old and new, who’s artful techniques produce a stunning array of craft spirits. In tribute to their passion behind the craft, our bartenders serve iconic drinks inspired by America’s golden age of cocktails. Anchored by more than 200 bourbons and whiskeys, our collection has been curated to showcase the varied notes and nuances of the world’s most celebrated stills.

For this blog, we are honoring the drinkable and edible versions of bourbon with tantalizing treats right off the menu. Dave Wallace, director of beverage for Montage International creates the cocktail lists for all the Montage hotels, however, he is based at Montage Deer Valley. Paying tribute to the classics while showcasing creative takes on old favorites is the bourbon cocktail theme for Burgers and Bourbon. We sampled the Brown Derby: Woodford Reserve bourbon, honey and grapefruit. Not too sweet, but that little kick of grapefruit to finish off the smokey bourbon. The next was the Park City Sour: High West double rye, lemon, sugar and red wine. This was the table favorite. Presented layered, stir this up for the perfectly balanced cocktail. Next was the Side Bar: Midnight Moon Moonshine, Cointreau, lemon and sugar. A sweet yet sour refreshing summer drink.

Keeping with the bourbon theme, we chose to sample menu items that featured bourbon in the description. Take the bourbon BBQ wings: these are some of the largest wings perfectly seasoned with just enough heat and just enough sweet to be truly finger-licking good. Served with the traditional celery and carrots, as well as house-made blue cheese.

We couldn’t resist the Lux Burger as our second choice. The juiciest and perfectly cooked patty topped with foie gras, truffle cheese, bourbon onions and arugula. Served with coleslaw and a pickle, we had to add on a serving of the Parmesan truffle fries to elevate it to the incredible level.

Leaving room for dessert, our meal was topped off by an old-fashioned Coke float with vanilla ice cream, bourbon caramel and cane cola. Yes, we spiked it with a shot of local High West whiskey, just to round out the meal.

Famous for their extensive bourbon and whiskey list, and elevated ingredients for their burgers and fries, don’t be shy to bring the kids. With a menu just for them, make sure they save room for dessert and one of their imaginative shakes (nonalcoholic of course) or the over-the-top brownie sundae. Need to treat yourself after a hard day in the hills? No worries. Stop by as you are and enjoy the fresh air on the deck or in the bar.
