Welcome back to our weekly blog series, Après Affection. Here, we round up our favorite treats for post-mountain sessions all around Park City. Whether it is thirst-quenching cocktails, or sweet and savory treats, our friends all around town share with us their recipes and favorite après ski bites.
PARK CITY MOUNTAIN
Pig Pen Saloon
Their slogan, “Old Fashioned Apres Ski,” says it all. At this locally owned and managed spot at the base of Park City Mountain, you are sure to have a good time. Originally started in 1999, in association to Professional Intermountain Guide Service, they started by offering snow cat and ski tour services. The now iconic P.I.G. came from that acronym, and nearly 20 years later they are still going strong! No longer do they operate ski touring services, but what they do offer is an incredible location and ability to sit outside and enjoy the views after a beautiful day on the mountain. In addition, they also just completed a full renovation featuring an all new interior, and a delicious new food/drink menu.
What we love:
They offer a killer slow cooker beef stew in a bread bowl, pretty much everything you could ask for after a calorie burning day on the slopes. Classic offerings like their bratwurst, pretzels, cold beer, plus they make an outstanding bloody Mary.
When: daily at 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Where: 1415 Lowell Ave at the base of Park City Mountain Resort
DEER VALLEY
Troll Hallen Lounge
If you have ever even heard of Deer Valley Resort, chances are you have heard of Stein Eriksen Lodge and their legendary après experience. A must for those skiing, you can easily ski-in to their locale mid-mountain in Silver Lake Village. The lodge itself may be a Five-Star facility, but don’t let that fool you. In the lounge you can find a casual and lively atmosphere, with hearty and delicious eats. Daily during après you can be entertained by live bands inside, or you can find one of the epic seats by the fire pits looking out over the mounatins.
What we love:
Their mainstay guilty pleasures include garlic cheese fries with Asiago cheese and the signature “Stein’s Burger,” eight ounces of Angus beef topped with melted white cheddar and crispy onions. This place is also known for their standout Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and gravy (recipe of Chef Zane’s Grandma). Also included are complimentary tasty sweet and savory bites, like those pictured below, to perfectly accompany their solid beer and cocktail list.
When: daily at 10 a.m. – 12 a.m.
Where: Mid-mountain at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Silver Lake Village
MAIN STREET
Collies Bar and Grill
Bringing the love of food from places you’ve lived and worked is precisely what owner David, his family, and chef Rob believe in. So they decided years ago that Park City really could use some more of their favorite southern style BBQ from back home. That they do now, with delicious offerings like ribs, wings, and pulled pork. Chef Rob serves up his tasty “Bobecue Sauce” daily, which he wrote the recipe for 11 years ago. They also offer up an incredible selection of beers and games, with 25 flat-screen TVs. Their motto, “Where good food is herding people together.” couldn’t be more fitting of their business, especially because their business is named after David’s two Border Collies- Shelly and Springer.
What we love:
Their sandwich the climax is out of this world with pulled pork, Bobby-Q sauce, coleslaw, fried pickles, crispy onion strings, and brioche bun. Step right into New Orleans with their Creole Gumbo- Southern style gumbo with andouille sausage and chicken served with rice and homemade cornbread.
When: daily at 11 a.m. – 1 a.m.
Where: 738 Main Street, across from the Town Lift

CANYONS VILLAGE
Red Tail Grill
A quick slide in right off of the mountain, adjacent to the Orange Bubble, you can find Red Tail Grill. Located in the Grand Summit Hotel, the are serving up a Western twist to the traditional English gastro pub offerings. It is a favorite gathering spot after a day on the mountain for groups of friends or families of all sizes. They have incredible views of gondolas going up and coming down from the peaks of the mountain. With those mountain views, tasty eats, good choice of beverages and friendly staff, you can’t go wrong.
What we love:
They offer a great special section of their menu called “Hot Laps”- these items are specifically geared to get you back to the lift in a hurry. With offerings like bourbon chicken, you can fuel up for the last couple runs of the day. We love their Kalua cuban, with Kalua pig, swiss cheese, pickles, ham, mustard aioli. Pairs great with their jalapeno pomegranate margarita- El Jimador, POM juice, jalapeno, lime.
When: daily 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Where: 3855 Grand Summit Dr, Canyons Village

UNEXPECTED APRES
Este Pizza
As an East Coaster myself, I was stoked when local, family owned Este Pizza rolled into town with their incredible New York style pizza. They take pride in serving delicious pizza in a casual, friendly dining atmosphere. They put love into everything they serve, and you can taste the difference in their homemade and handtossed dough, homemade sauces and vegan items. They are perfectly tucked away on a side street in Prospector Square, right off of the busy post-ski path. You also can enjoy their quick lunch slice specials or grab a pie for the road.
What we love:
Be sure to check their website for their pizza and sandwich of the week for delicious creations. Their vegan options are out of this world, like their BBQ Chick-un. Their pizza is their shining star, but you also can’t go wrong with their traditional calzones.
When: varies, Monday through Thursday at 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Where: 1781 Sidewinder Dr, in Prospector area
