‘Day Without Immigrants’ Not Going Unnoticed In Park City

A growing number of restaurant owners and chefs are vowing to close their restaurants today as part of a campaign called A Day Without Immigrants. In some cases, businesses are making the public aware that they may short- staffed, or closed for the day, depending on the turnout from their employees. The movement originally started in Washington D.C. area with flyers and social media posts, and has spread across the country.

The grassroots campaign has quickly gained momentum, and its supporters are vowing to boycott stores, avoid restaurants and even not send their children to schools today. As word has spread, many Park City businesses have decided to take a stance for their employees and businesses. Some examples can be seen below from social media.

Immigrants are a big part of this country, and without them, the country would stop. They do make a huge difference to this country. One of the main reasons for this cause is so immigrants feel more respected when they move over to the country. Currently, it’s difficult for them to actually set up a new life over here. Without a credit history, immigrants are unable to secure loans, meaning they can struggle to find housing. However, life is becoming easier for them, especially since they are able to build up credit now (more info here).

We recommend if you intend to dine out today, contact the business in advance first to check on their current status. Many have started to use the hashtags #adaywithoutimmigrants and #immigrantsfeedamerica, so you also can use those to see who may be affected.
