July 4th Round Up

I can hear it already. The jets whooshing past overhead, the bagpipes marching down Main Street, meat sizzling on grills, the live music rockin’ the day away at City Park, the loud pops of fireworks. The 4th is here my fellow Parkite Americans, and it’s time to start figuring out how you will spend it. If it’s your first 4th of July in Park City, get ready, this town gets festive. If you’re used to the chaos of the red, white and blue weekend, well, you know what I’m talking about then. There is plenty going on this weekend, and we’re here to give you the lowdown:

Park City / Canyons Celebration

The 4th of July obviously starts the night before as The Canyons annual 3rd of July celebration is one of the biggest in town. Starting at 3 p.m., there will be activities throughout the day such as a mechanical bull, face painting, a magician and more, with musical act The Soulistics capping off the night from 6-8:30 p.m. This is a free event, but a very popular one so parking is extremely limited. They encourage everyone to take public transportation or ride your bike. Parking will be $5 per car, and all proceeds will go to the People’s Health Clinic.

This year, Park City and Canyons will join together to present a 4th of July weekend of activities. On Saturday the fun shifts to Park City. Start the day with the highly anticipated parade down Main Street, then settle in to Park City to catch a free concert at Park City Mountain Resort from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m., great food and the famous fireworks display at dusk.
