Local First Utah is a nonprofit organization that seeks to strengthen communities and local economies by promoting, preserving and protecting local, independently owned businesses throughout Utah. With supporting local businesses becoming a larger and larger priority these days, the importance of this organization has become widely recognized in our state.
Organized in 2005 by a small number of volunteer business owners and community-minded residents, Local First Utah today has more than 2,700 locally owned and independent business partners, including citizens and government organizations across the state.
Local First Utah is open to all Utah businesses that are at least 51 percent locally owned and make their business decisions independently. There is no class of membership in the organization, and registration is free.
This Saturday, Local First Utah will be hosting its first annual fundraiser and gala event, Celebrate The Bounty, featuring several Salt Lake City restaurants, IG Winery as their signature wine purveyor, cocktails crafted by Jake Hall (bar expert of Vida Tequila) of Bar X and our own O.P. Rockwell, as well as beer provided by Wasatch Brewery.
