New Tapas and Wine Restaurant on Main Street

Dishing always gets excited when we see a new restaurant opening, but when I saw that the sign on the new spot said “tapas and wine” I was extra excited. Because, really, what’s better than lots of plates of different food accompanied with lots of wine? When it comes to tapas, te quireo. So last night we stopped in to see what Bodega on Main was dishing up.

Bodega is a modern style Spanish tapas bar, mixing traditional plates with their own twist on the classics. Their concept is simple, “It’s about good food, drinks and great service in a relaxing setting.”

Walking in the vibe is rustic and welcoming. The design consists of lots of  wood planks and metal, with a main focal point being a shiny meat slicer behind the bar.

Our charming waiter Reuben walked us through the menu noting some favorites including the clams, calamari, lamb lollipops and croquettes. There is a healthy wine list and several Spanish wines, and we started with an Argentinian Malbec. And since I never say no to cheese, we started with the meats and cheese plate (and by plate, I mean giant wooden plank). It had a selection of Iberico jamon, local salt smoke meats and local and imported cheeses.

Next up, croquettes and brussels sprouts with smokey bacon. A croquette is a small breadcrumbed fried roll filled with various ingredients. We tried the chicken croquettes, which I am already planning on visiting again soon.

We also tried the calamari with spicy aioli which delivered exactly what you want from a fried calamari.

For a small dessert we got the churros with chocolate dipping sauce. I’m pretty sure that there isn’t a dessert as fun as a churro. I will also be returning for these…wine and churros is a complete meal, right?

Bodega on Main lived up to my tapas expectations. I love tapas because they always encourage socializing as the focus is not on a full meal set before you, but the food here still totally stands out. Make sure to check out this new spot on Main and enjoy lotsa tapas!
