Uptown Fare Announces Opening Date

The wait is over! Uptown Fare, the wildly popular local restaurant, is set to open at the Kimball Art Center on April 29. Owner Karleen Reilly knows she has a lot of expectations to live up to but we don’t think anyone is too worried about her being able to meet locals longing for her desired soups and sandwiches.

Uptown Fare had for years been a staple for locals before Reilly was forced to close when the building on upper Main Street was deemed unsafe. Finally, after what locals will argue was a much too long hiatus, Reilly will once again serve the soups and sandwiches that have made her customers loyal each weekday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Despite enjoying some time off, Reilly is ready to get back to business.

Uptown Fare will now offer only four of her homemade soups every day (she promises they will be the favorites) as well as her sandwiches made with the best meats, breads, cheeses and vegetables.

So what’s new? Grilled cheese sandwiches will now be on the menu as she previously did not have room for a panini machine. Check back on the KAC’s website for the full menu coming soon.

Opening alongside the restaurant is the new café gallery, an indoor seating area for the restaurant, which will feature art on the walls. Uptown Fare will also have an outdoor seating area. And there will be two parking lots that will total 52 spots which is great news after the often-tight parking situation where the restaurant used to be on Main Street.

What was supposed to be a soft opening has been so publicized that it will be a full-blown opening further displaying that town has truly missed Karleen’s Uptown Fare. It is sure to be packed on Friday but it will be (and has been) worth the wait!
