Vida Tequila’s Holiday Cheer

Jump to recipe

In a state like Utah, it is definitely surprising when you discover that one of our state’s most acclaimed and decorated products is tequila. Pretty ironic, right? Aside from being locally owned, it truly is some of the best tequila you can buy. Founders and owners Lisa and John Barlow live in Draper and as you can imagine, Draper is not the most ideal place for tequila to be produced. Their tequila is grown, produced and bottled in no better place than Jalisco, Mexico, then sold here.  It has made its way into several restaurants, including Chimayo, and you can find one of their types of tequila in liquor stores.

Vida produces three tequilas: Blanco, Reposado and Anejo, all differentiated by the amount of time it is spent aging.  The Silver (Blanco) is clear, transparent and is bottled immediately after distillation. The Aged (Reposado) is rested at least 6 months in American Oak Barrels before being bottled, and the Extra-Aged (Anejo) is rested 18-24 months in French oak barrels before being bottled.  All 3 extremely unique in flavor, perfectly for slow sipping.  For now, this is just an introduction to one of our favorite Utah companies, and we will definitely mention them in more depth in the near future, but for now, here is one of their cocktail recipes to welcome the weekend and spread some more ‘Holiday Cheer.’
