Tune Up for Ski Season

Now that most of the rocks are covered, it’s a good time to get your good skis tuned up for the best part of the season. From your skis to your body and mind, we’ve got a few ideas for making the most of ski season this year!

Let’s start with getting your gear dialed in for the rest of the season. Whether you’re a first-time skier, or a veteran ski bum with a quiver full of skis, the team at Silver Star Ski & Sports can hook you up! Their tag line is: “the greatest shop on the planet,” and who are we to argue? The shop specializes in high-end rentals and demos, and they also rent snowshoes and sell all the ski essentials. On the Silver Star Lift, you can practically ski right out of the shop!

After a day on the slopes, who wants to grocery shop and make dinner? A lot of skiers hit apres and then some good bar food, but that can be expensive and is not always the healthiest… Luckily, Luna’s Kitchen has dinner covered so you don’t have to worry about cooking. Their grab-and-go case is always stocked with ready-to-heat dinners, or you can preorder dinners with a 24-hour notice. Everything they make is gluten-free, and they’ve got quite a selection of desserts and pastries, too!

Sadly, the super-dry climate at this elevation isn’t always good to our skin. Especially if you’re out on the slopes in the sun and wind. Over time, low humidity and high-altitude sun exposure can take a toll. That’s not a problem for the technicians at MDSkin Lounge in Newpark. They offer a membership program with access to monthly treatments, or a-la-carte options, as well as some truly great skincare products. It’s amazing how much better you can feel after a hydrating treatment.

If you really want to splurge on your body and mind, check out some of the custom treatments and experiences available at the Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge. Booking a spa treatment gives you access to all spa facilities, including the outdoor pool and hot tub. I love a good exfoliating body scrub in winter, followed by some time in the steam room. Private yoga, meditation, personal training and other mindful activities are available, as well as oxygen treatments for your out-of-town guests.
