August Wine Event Round-Up

Don’t wind down when summer is still winding up!

As the roundness of late summer approaches, it’s the perfect time to sip and swirl a beautiful glass of wine – preferably with accompanying locally-made nosh from Park City’s abundant food scene. Read on for some exciting events in Park City this month where you do just that!

Butcher’s Chop House and Bar Wine Dinner

Butcher’s Chop House And Bar, a Park City Main Street favorite, will be presenting their August Wine Dinner on the 14, beginning at 5 p.m. Start with a welcome cocktail if you so wish, as well as some appetizers, then move on to a four-course dinner with five optional wine pairings from Piatelli Vineyards in Argentina. Benefit from the wisdom of guest winemaker Alejandro Nesman. There will also be a full bar; all guests must be 21 or over. The event will be held at Butcher’s Mountain View Patio, weather permitting.

Wine Among The Willows at Swaner Preserve

Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter and the Utah Wine Festival are teaming up to present a guided wine tasting tour featuring Utah wines. Wine Among The Willows will be held at the nature preserve on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. Six Utah wineries will be showcased, and hors d’oeuvres will be catered by Hill’s Kitchen. Attendees will go home with a souvenir wine glass! The tasting event is also an opportunity to learn about the effects of choosing Utah wines on the climate and environment. Advance registration is required (register here) and all participants must be 21 or over.

A Weekend With Arietta Winery at The Lodge at Blue Sky

Auberge Resorts’ The Lodge At Blue Sky will be hosting A Weekend With Arietta Winery Aug. 26 and 27. Begin your adventure with archery and bites on Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by an optional wine tasting from Arietta Winery from Napa Valley. There will be a wine dinner in the Wasatch Wine Room from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. featuring a six-course tasting menu from The Lodge at Blue Sky’s James Beard Award Winning Executive Chef Galen Zamarra. On Saturday, Aug. 27, you can immerse yourself in a healing sound bathing experience, followed by one final tasting.

The Next Course Cooking Classes With Wine Pairings

Mountain Town Olive Oil partners with local chefs Deanna Fitchat of Deelicious Park City and Kelley Epstein of Mountain Mama Cooks to offer locally-sourced cooking classes with optional wine pairings. Each class includes three to five recipes centered around a particular theme – upcoming sessions include Steakhouse Favorites on Aug. 12 (look forward to a burrata, basil and heirloom tomato salad, chili-coffee rubbed ribeye and dark chocolate lave cake) and a Vegetarian Fiesta on Aug. 18 (black bean and corn salad stuffed avocados, homemade tortillas, quesadillas and a summer berry tostada are included on the menu). Attendees will get to take the recipes with them, and will enjoy a 15% off discount in the store, so they can purchase some goodies before heading home.

Old Town Cellars

Enjoy affordable quality wines at a time you choose! You can “après” anytime with Old Town Cellars, who merge their passion for wine with their love of the outdoor adventures that are so bountiful in Park City. Try their Mountain Town white or red, Townie Rosé or Outlaw Reserve. You can enjoy their sommelier-approved wine list (as well as craft microbrews and fine spirits) at their cozy bar and lounge Monday through Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 3 to 9 p.m. with a cheese or charcuterie board featuring locally-made nibbles.
