Head Out! Summer Events With Dining Pairings

The sun is at its highest, and summer is in full swing – which means lots of long evenings for exploring the fabulous events that Park City offers this time of year. Here are a few to add to your calendar (and, of course, a few dining recommendations to go along with them!).

Girls Trip to Park City
Kimball Arts Festival will be held on Main Street, Park City August 5-7.

Historic Park City Main Street Events

Park Silly Market fills Historic Park City Main Street with crafts, food and entertainment from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Sunday until September 25 (with the exception of August 7, 14 and 21). Bring your family down to one of Park City’s best summer events and Main Street all at the same time.

Locally produced live performances can be found at The Egyptian Theatre – Grease The Musical (presented by Ziegfield Theater Co.) continues through July 17. Then, catch a Stand-Up Comedy show featuring David Graham and John Ziegler on August 5 and 6, followed by Evita (presented by Simon Fest Theatre Co.) August 11-14 and American rock band Ambrosia August 25-28. Tickets go fast!

Enjoy live performances at The Egyptian Theatre.

Don’t miss the Last Friday Gallery Stroll, presented by the Park City Gallery Association from 6 to 9 p.m. July 31, August 28 and September 25, a perfect way to enjoy the lengthened days. And August 5-7, Main Street will be home to the Kimball Arts Festival. While you are out and about, grab dinner at one of Main Street’s diverse restaurants – pasta at Buona Vita, pineapple fried rice (served in a pineapple!), curries and stir-fries at Bangkok Thai On Main or shrimp ceviche, queso fundido and fajitas at Crystal Park Cantina.

Bangkok Thai
What’s perfect for Summer? Curry at Bangkok Thai On Main.

For a little night life, enjoy weekly events at Flanagan’s On Main Irish Pub and Restaurant – on Thursdays, prime rib dinner begins at 5 p.m., with trivia from 8 to 10 p.m. DJs will be spinning each Friday night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., and you can sing your heart out at karaoke night on Saturdays from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. For an exclusive city vibe with bottle service and a rotating set of some of the area’s most skilled DJs, check out Downstairs Park City. The next morning, you can continue the fun at Sunday Service Drag Queen Brunch at The Cabin, a Park City mainstay.

Utah Olympic Park Events

Get your adrenaline rush lots of different ways with the Gold Pass at Utah Olympic Park. An $80 pass affords unlimited access to the following activities: the alpine slide, tubing, ziplines, ropes courses, a drop tower, airbag jumps, and, of course, scenic chairlifts. Sessions are twice daily from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5:30 p.m. While you are there, explore two museums dedicated to the olympics, and marvel at the Flying Ace Freestyle Show, where Olympic Athletes show off their single, double and even triple ski jumps into a swimming pool (Fridays and Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. through Labor Day weekend).

Big Daddy's Pizza
Bring a giant pie from Big Daddy’s Pizza to the Drive In Movies at Olympic Park.

In partnership with Park City Film, Utah Olympic Park will present Twilight Drive In Movies this Summer. Catch a double header on August 11 with Dora and The Lost City Of Gold at 7 p.m. and Encanto at 9 p.m. Wolfwalkers will show on August 12 at 8 p.m. and The Big Lebowski on August 13 at 8 p.m. Concessions are available, or you can bring a giant pizza from Big Daddy’s Pizza or a hot protein plate from Vessel Kitchen.

Park City Institute Concerts

Park City Institute will host Big Stars Bright Nights, featuring the hottest acts for those long Summer nights. Clay Walker is on the lineup July 13, Tower of Power on July 15, Stephen Marley (the second son of Bob Marley) on July 17 and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on August 5. Dinner at nearby dining hot spots like El Chubasco or Twisted Fern beforehand is highly recommended.
