Waldorf Astoria Park City Hires Executive Chef Ryan Burnham

Situated at the base of the Canyon’s base of Park City Mountain Waldorf Astoria Park City, aims to reflect its surroundings which made Executive Chef Ryan Burnham a perfect fit. Burnham, who joined the team in early March, has a passion for the region and draws from extensive experience as Executive Chef of the Sundance Mountain Resort, as well as nine years as Executive Chef at Goldener Hirsch Inn & Residences where he achieved high honors from Utah’s Best Of State committee. He was also recognized by the James Beard Association for a “Chefs Of Deer Valley” event he spearheaded. Other restaurants he has helmed in his 25 year career include Pago in Salt Lake City, Wahso Asian Grill and Grappa in Park City, Gotham Steak at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, La Campagne in the Greater Philadelphia area and San Francisco’s Asia De Cuba.

A Vienna, Virginia native, Burnham earned a degree in Civil Engineering from University Of Utah before entering the California Culinary Academy. When he is not cooking up a storm, Chef Burnham enjoys spending time with his wife and four children and hitting the slopes! Burnham will be in charge of all dining outlets at the Waldorf Astoria Park City including Powder restaurant, in-room dining, catering and banquets and poolside dining.

Deer Valley Resort Names New Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef

Deer Valley Resort, home of 14 dining outlets, has named Peter Menteer as Executive Chef and promoted Chris Gibson, who formerly headed up Deer Valley’s Silver Lake Restaurant as Executive Chef, to Executive Sous Chef of the entire resort.

Menteer hails from Montana, where he served as executive chef of the Stock Farm Club in the Bitterroot Valley. After graduating with honors from the Western Culinary Institute, he led several notable eateries in Portland before taking charge at The Westin Chicago Northwest, where he opened three restaurants as the executive chef.

Gibson has been with Deer Valley Resort since 2003, working his way up to sous chef of Silver Lake Restaurant, then chef at Royal Street Café, and finally to executive chef of Silver Lake Restaurant. As well as overseeing weddings and special events, he has kept the show running at several Deer Valley favorites – Silver Lake, Royal Street Café and The Mariposa.

Alex Malmborg Appointed Executive Chef at St. Regis Deer Valley

Chef Alex Malmborg is from Rowley, Mass. He received his B.A. in chemistry from College of The Holy Cross in Worcester, as well as a degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Before his recent appointment to executive chef of all culinary operations at the St. Regis Deer Valley – including RIME, Brasserie 7452, the St. Regis Bar and banquets/events – Malmborg was senior manager of food and beverage operations at Vail Resorts/ Park City Mountain Resort. Other notable credits in Malmborg’s 30-plus year career include over ten years as mountain dining executive chef at Park City Mountain Resort, overseeing all 11 dining outlets, executive chef at Grappa on Park City Main Street and sous chef at James Beard Award-winning Blue Ginger Asian Bistro in Wellesley, Mass.
