Park City Sips: More than Your Average Coffee Shops

This is peak ski season and the perfect time to get cozy. When you are not on the slopes or enjoying après ski, what better way to savor the snowy wonderland than to hunker down in ones of Park City’s best coffee shops? It’s about so much more than a great cup of joe – although that’s of prime importance, as well! Finding your favorite spot to relax with a steaming hot beverage is just… good for the soul.

Here are some recommendations for Park City coffee houses, each with their own unique character.

Java Cow Café and Bakery

A Pistachio Éclair at Java Cow

At first glance, Java Cow Café And Bakery will bowl you over. The Main Street favorite is filled with kitschy gifts and focuses on coffee and food on one side, and ice cream on the other (you may at first actually think there are two separate shops in the space). The bovine-themed décor is overwhelmingly whimsical and puts you in the mood to enjoy something decadent. There are fresh-baked eclairs, colorful French macarons, croissants, muffins, cookies and brownies. Even just getting your nose near the glass cases feels like a treat. Pair the goody of your choice with an espresso drink made with Caffe Ibis, a local, family-owned fair-trade coffee roasting company. This is a great choice for families, especially with little ones.

Atticus Coffee, Books and Teahouse

At the opposite of end of Main Street, Atticus Coffee, Books and Teahouse is perfect for book and tea aficionados and quiet introverts who want to sequester in a corner with their favorite hot drink and thick book (yes, it’s named for the beloved father in Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird). It’s also an ideal spot for low-key, one-on-one meetings and getting connected to the community (check out their bulletin board!).

Espresso drinks such as The Finch, Pooh Bear and White Rabbit, will leave you surprised and delighted. Matcha lattes and chai are great choices for those with eclectic tastes. Last, but definitely not least, Atticus’s tea menu is comprised of house blends such as Indian Paintbrush, Grey Ghost and Lavender black tea, also available to purchase for your home. Food items such as bagel sandwiches, burritos and bowls are available from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Browse the bookshelves or purchase some gifts while you are there! You are supporting a local, family-owned Park City business.

Lucky Ones Coffee House

Located inside the Park Avenue branch of the library, Lucky Ones Coffee House employs Park City citizens with developmental disabilities, providing a quality product and excellent opportunity at the same time. The peaceful, minimal vibe makes it a great spot for sipping a lavender latte and cracking open some of the books you just checked out. Try a protein hot chocolate, or a vanilla bean steamer with house-made syrup if you want to branch out from coffee. Or purchase a coffee blend or some gear to support the cause, or even make a donation to enable Lucky Ones Coffee Shop to continue providing a valuable employment opportunity to folks excited to offer you a wonderful coffee house experience.
