Get Organized: Clear Out and Clean Up

A clear space is a clear mind! That’s the motto for Get Organized, a group of organizers in Park City that work with clients to find sustainable organizing solutions for their home.

“It’s really quite a simple concept,” said Ann Martin, owner. “It’s harder for people to do their own space because they get caught up in their own things. As a third party we go in with no emotional attachment.”

Founded by sisters in 2017, and now run by Martin and in-law Emily Schum Terry, the group offers services for whatever life throws at you. They help with home organization, preparing a home to be sold, organizing before movers even arrive and unpack, refreshing a space and more.

An initial, one-hour consultation is free and lets a client share their home concerns with the business. Though they will help with all rooms of the house, their kitchen work is extra impressive.

Most projects start with decluttering. Then, in the kitchen specifically, the team will:

  • Organize drawers or silverware by creating custom drawer liners
  • Set up cabinets properly upon move-in
  • Ensure all Tupperware has a matching lids and is easy to find
  • Pots and pans are in a spot that makes sense
  • Label containers with cleaning items
  • Alphabetize spices
  • Put oils in an easy to reach spot when cooking

It’s all about function, flow and how the kitchen will be used most often.

“What comes top of mind, especially with kitchens and pantries, is creating zones,” Terry said. “That way, its easy and everyone knows where everything is. Even when one goes to the grocery store, you know what you’re running low on before you go and you know where everything goes when you come home.”

Get Organized utilizes turntables, expandable bamboo organizers, custom peg systems and more to keep countertops clear. Their simplicity first approach makes for not only an aesthetic kitchen, but a smart one too. Having these clear spaces make people feel at ease instead of making the home feel like a chore, Terry said.
