While you may not think of land-locked Park City as a seafood destination, this mountain town has a surprisingly diverse supply of fresh seafood, often offered side by side with the farm-fresh produce and wild meats harvested closer by.
Here are a few suggestions for finding fresh seafood in Park City next time you are in the mood:
Freshies Lobster Co.
You can have Maine-style lobster in various forms at Freshies Lobster Co., including their famous lobster rolls, loaded with lobster, hot butter, mayonnaise and seasonings on a fresh bun. Other choices include lobster mac and cheese with gruyere and Beehive cheddar, keto-friendly lobster lettuce cups with Sriracha aioli, guacamole, mango and creamy cilantro sauce, spicy lobster sliders or savory lobster bisque. The restaurant gets the lobster meat “from shore to door in 24” so its as fresh as possible.
Shabu
Shabu, a historic Park City Main Street favorite, features a colorful and flavorful menu with sushi, tempura, hot pot and dim sum. If you are craving seafood, try the Rising Sun Roll with blue crab, grilled asparagus, avocado and roasted red pepper, topped with salmon, lemon and charred onion ponzu, or the Nitro Roll with tempura shrimp, avocado and pineapple, topped with tuna, tobiko and eel sauce from the sushi menu. The dinner menu boasts starters like tuna tataki and squid salad, and entrées like sweet miso caramelized black cod and the thrillingly presented teriyaki sizzle pan – choose shrimp or salmon, as well as non-seafood options like chicken, beef, tofu, vegetables or a combination.
Yuki Yama Sushi
Another prime sushi spot, Yuki Yama Sushi, is one of the best places in Park City to try a variety of foods from the sea. From the starter menu, choose the crispy tuna tartare, with spicy tuna, crispy rice, shiso, tobiko, avocado and sweet soy sauce. A favorite hot plate is the tempura, with light, crispy fried shrimp and vegetables, served with dashi broth. There is also a black cod hot plate, with miso-marinated sablefish, imported koshihikari rice and baby bok choy. From the maki menu, there are spicy hama rolls, crispy salmon skin rolls, spicy tako and spicy scallop rolls. Special maki rolls not to be missed include the Bruce Lee Roy (albacore tuna, avocado and tempura shishito peppers, topped with wagyu beef, crispy shallots, green onion, smoked sea salt and truffle ponzu sauce), and the Mr. Miyagi (red and snow crab, and yellowtail, rolled in avocado, topped with tuna poke and sweet soy sauce).
The Blind Dog
If you are looking for an over-the-top seafood experience in Park City, The Blind Dog is just the spot. You can have sushi, fish and chips (the Tuesday night special), lobster and even partake in their Raw Bar – there is a ceviche df the day, freshly shucked oysters, oyster shooters, shrimp cocktail and hamachi crudo. The sushi menu includes hamachi and sashimi, as well as spicy tuna roll, salmon roll and a California roll with blue crab. An impressive starter is the the poke stack with English cucumber, daikon, scallion and sesame miso vinaigrette. There are also crab cakes with mustard sauce and green tomato slaw, and crispy coconut shrimp with papaya and sweet chili sauce. Entrées include seared mahi mahi with red curry, mango mint salad and coconut grits, salmon with blueberry and sweet corn succotash or a shellfish pan roast with jumbo shrimp, mussels, manila clams, crawfish butter and grilled baguettes. So much variety!
Lobster Summer at Fletcher’s
Fletcher’s is presenting Lobster Summer, a yearly tradition where diners who purchase one entrée can add a 7-8 ounce cold water lobster tail, grilled to perfection. Entrées that would pair well with lobster include the buffalo sirloin and the New York strip steak (made with grass-fed New Zealand beef), topped with demi-glace, cognac sauce or Fletcher’s steak sauce. Comforting sides to round out your feast include parmesan polenta, roasted Brussels sprouts, rainbow carrots or ginger soy broccolini. Finish with a trio of house-made ice creams or Fletcher’s famous (gluten-free!) chocolate chip skillet.
