Escape the Sundance Crowds

Head to nearby towns for less crowded options during the festival.

For the first time since 2020, Sundance Film Festival is taking over Park City this week. That means dynamite film screenings, celebrity sightings, and restaurants, hotels, coffee shops and stores packed with festival-goers.

Looking to escape the crowds? Check out our recommendations for a great bite or cup of coffee in Park CIty’s charming surrounding towns.

Kamas & Silver Summit

Fans of Lush’s BBQ and Lucky Ones Coffee can still get their fix by heading to these Park City favorites’ locations in Kamas and Silver Summit neighborhood just outside of Park City. Lush’s is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., serving up selections from their Tennessee-style barbecue menu.

Lush's BBQ

Just around the corner on Main Street in Kamas, Lucky Ones’ new outpost offers coffee, tea, kombucha, and unbeatable hot chocolate. The shop also serves a variety of fresh paninis served on Red Bicycle hoagie bread, pastries, and toast. The best part? Lucky Ones employs and empowers individuals with disabilities, so every purchase and donation goes to expanding opportunities for their team.

Heber City

Just 25 minutes from Park City is Heber City, a growing town brimming with exciting restaurants to try out. Our personal favorites run the gamut from burgers to BBQ to pizza.

On Main Street, you’ll find Spin Cafe – a hip, eclectic spot open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Their menu is filled with daily specials, vegetarian and gluten-free friendly options, and their homemade gelato.

Originally started as a food truck in Midway, Goochy Goo BBQ recently opened a Smokehouse also on Main Street in Heber. Goochy Goo is perhaps most known for its Sundae – a pile of mac and cheese, bacon, more cheese, green onions, BBQ ranch, and a choice of brisket, andouille sausage, pulled pork or chicken. (We vote for the brisket!)

Another Main Street mainstay is Dairy Keen, a casual restaurant famous for its made-from-scratch burgers and shakes with a mountain of toppings options. Plus a selection of homemade soups all winter.

If pizza is more your speed, Heber Valley Pizza Company has you covered with classic options like four cheese and Hawaiian, as well as more unique choices like spicy shrimp and lamb with ricotta cheese.

Midway

A few minutes from Heber, is its equally picturesque neighbor, Midway. Midway is home to a host of tasty joints, including the renowned Blue Boar Inn & Restaurant. This old-style, European chateau has been recognized repeatedly by local and national organizations for fine dining and romantic accommodations. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Blue Boar’s menu has a unique old-world European dish for all tastes.
