Hearty Dishes Around Town

With February all but behind us, it’s time to use our last few weeks of cold weather to savor the hot and heavier fare of the season, before salads and smoothies return with spring. Whether you’re in Kamas, Midway or Park City, take a leap this weekend into some of our favorite hearty dishes from around town.

Blue Boar Inn

Over the Provo River and through the Wasatch Woods is the Holsteiner Schnitzel at Blue Boar Inn, a snug little European-style chateau in Midway City. Enjoy the sautéed spaetzle, asparagus, fried egg and citrus buerre blanc in their four-star formal dining room.blue boar inn

State Road Tavern, Dejoria Center

From line dancing to live music, the Dejoria Center in Kamas features weekly entertainment and an onsite restaurant serving up hearty winter fare. For flavor that sticks-in-your-mind and meals that stick-to-your-ribs, head to State Road Tavern for their chicken fried steak, served with mashed potatoes, white sausage gravy and corn cobettes.

Flanagans on Main

No one does comfort food quite like the Irish. For a meal that goes well with a pint, try the Bangers and Mash at Flanagan’s on Main. Grilled, flavorful sausage is served over mashed potatoes with Irish brown gravy, green onions, steamed veggies and ciabatta bread.flanagan's on main

Lola’s Street Kitchen

Artisan-style street food steps out this winter with sandwich melts that are thawing the snow, and our bones. Try their vegetarian portobella and truffle melt served on homemade nine-grain bread and stacked with portobello mushroom, roasted tomatoes, arugula, truffle oil, goat cheese, muenster cheese and pesto.

Goldener Hirsch, Deer Valley

A hearty appetizer kicks off any good winter meal. Enjoy a glass of wine while you savor the cheese fondue at Deer Valley’s Goldener Hirsch, voted best U.S. Ski Boutique Hotel. Dip green apple, broccoli, grapes, cornichons and the optional (but always amazing) Wagyu beef.
