How to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Nothing says “hello spring” like a tasty margarita and an overflowing basket of tortilla chips. Cinco de Mayo may mean cheap tequila shots and an excuse to go out on a weeknight to some. But this year, take an elevated approach to the holiday, either at home with some of our favorite recipes or out on the town.

Speaking of tequila, we’ve gathered a few of our favorite recipes from the margarita masters here in Park City. From an Aperol-margarita hybrid to a raspberry-infused tequila cocktail, these drinks will surely cover your tequila cravings.

If making your own margarita magic at home isn’t your style, we recommend heading to one of these spots to fill your Cinco fix. While many restaurants take a spring break this time of year, Chimayo, Loco Lizard, Billy Blanco’s and the St. Regis Bar remain open and ready to serve up the perfect margarita. Pro tip: if you’re looking for a non-alcoholic delight, try the Pineapple Ginger Fizz cocktail at the St. Regis.

Now, let’s talk about what to eat. Tacos are top of mind this and when we think tacos, we think Dos Olas’ chicken Tinga tacos recipe. Serrano, poblano and chipotle peppers come together with sweet Roma tomatoes to create the perfect taco with a zesty kick. We recommend doubling the recipe of this sure-to-be crowdpleaser.

If tortilla chips are the star of the holiday for you, beeline to Don Gallo on Main Street and order their signature mango pico guacamole. You can also recreate their famous green shrimp ceviche in your own kitchen.
