It’s that ripe, gorgeous time of year that is perfect for sampling some of Utah’s outstanding microbrews. There are some fabulous events coming up at which to grab a pint glass and try some new brews, and also some mainstay Park City brewpubs where you can belly up to the bar anytime you are in the mood.
Inaugural Mountain Beer Festival At Deer Valley Resort
The inaugural Deer Valley Mountain Beer Festival will be held Sept. 17 and 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Silver Lake Lodge. Festivities will include scenic chair lift rides throughout the resort, dining and access to the Beer and Music Garden (which will feature three live musical acts daily, hosted in partnership with Mountain Town Music). Head to the Culinary Corridor, to enjoy options like chef-made barbecue plates, hot dogs and burgers and Deer Valley’s famous turkey chili. There will also be a Kid’s Zone, with face painting and yard games. Participating breweries will include Utah favorites like Offset Bier, Park City Brewing, Uinta Brewing Company and Squatter’s Craft Beers.
Or…Take A Day Trip To Oktoberfest At Snowbird Resort
Head out of Park City to nearby Snowbird Resort for Oktoberfest! It’s their 50th anniversary celebrating this event, and the festivities began in mid-August and will stretch to mid-October each Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Snowbird’s Oktoberfest attracts thousands of visitors each year, making it one of Utah’s largest festivals. Admission is free; parking is $10 per vehicle. There will be a biergarten with more than 50 types of beer (including Moab Brewery and Salt Lake City’s Bohemian Brewery), as well as entertainment and vendors to explore. Go home with a special 50th Anniversary stein, or save a few dollars on beer costs by bringing your commemorative glass from a prior year. If you are in the mood for something else, visit the outdoor bar at The Forklift. For food options, there will be bratwurst, sauerkraut, apple strudel, spaetzle, pretzels and Bavarian roasted almonds.
Try Utah Microbrews Every Day!
You can sample the best of Utah’s excellent craft brewing scene on a regular basis, by swinging by some of Park City’s favorite brewpubs. Park City Brewing opened a location in Kimball Junction this year – try their Gold Town pale ale, Sneaker Tree India pale ale or Powder Buoy pilsner with a juicy Wagyu burger, adobo and chive french fries and some of their famous warm caramel corn (served in a mini cast iron skillet). Take home a mix pack to sample a few of their microbrews at home.
At Red Rock Brewing you can tuck into house-fired pizzas, pastas, salads and even weekend brunch. You can sip on a wide selection of beers, or try their house-made root beer or cream soda!
Wasatch Brew Pub boasts brewmaster special selections like Kickback India pale lager, Belgian Witbier, Top Of Main Raspberry Ale and Lemon Blueberry Cream Ale. Enjoy a pint at their Main Street brewpub (one of the best outdoor patios in town), with a heap of nachos, tots with bacon-jalapeño dipping sauce and a buffalo burger. Ask about their mug club for loyal customers! Sister restaurant Roadhouse Grill & Pub is a great place to get their Chasing Tail Golden Ale, American Wheat Hefeweizen or Hop Rising Double IPA. They might pair well with the Legendary Roadhouse Buffalo wings, taco salad or BBQ pulled pork sandwich.
