The best thing about all these sushi spots? They all have their own special rolls! Read on to get a Park City local’s pick on the best spots and the and specialty rolls you won’t want to miss around town.

Flying Sumo

Located just a block off Park Avenue, Flying Sumo features a menu full of Asian-fusion along with its sushi. Coconut shrimp, spicy salmon cake tartare and the seaweed salad are all great starters. As far as sushi goes, not only are the nigiris to die for, but the uramaki (inside out rolls) as well. The the spicy dragon – a California roll topped with spicy tuna and green onions – brings the heat.

Kita

Located inside The Pendry hotel in the Canyons Village area, Kita serves high end sushi and sake that tastes as fresh as it looks. Start off with the edamame, which has a touch of bourbon teriyaki flavoring to give it some extra spice, and of course pair a sake with it. This is the spot to get the cream-of-the-crop spicy tuna roll, California roll, and Kita special Hot Tail roll – maguro, avocado, cucumber, Hamachi, serrano and shoyu sauce.

Yuki Yama

Also located in the Old Town district, Yuki Yama is worth planing ahead and booking a reservation. The crispy tuna tartare and wagyu bruschetta, are the starters to go with. As far as specialty rolls go, the Mr. Miyagi with red and snow crab, yellowtail, avocado, tuna poke and sweet soy sauce, serves a kick. Plenty of nightly specials highlight whatever fish has been flown in fresh.

Did you know there’s an O’Shucks in Pinebrook serving sushi without even heading to town? Ahh Sushi features your typical cheeseburgers and French fries of O’Shucks, with a side of seaweed salad or some gyozas. Make sure to get a Caterpillar – crab, cucumber, kaiware sprouts and eel topped with avocado, eel sauce, tobiko and sesame seeds. The Firecracker – spicy maguro, avocado and cucumber rolled in tempura crunchies and topped with Sriracha – is another 5-star option.

Sushi Blue

Located in Kimball Junction, this long-time local favorite goes beyond just a basic California roll. With options including grilled octopus, Korean street tacos and even glazed short ribs, Sushi Blue has something for everyone. If you’re going for the sushi, you’ll definitely need to get your hands on the Tina Turner – tempura shrimp topped with big eye tuna, avocado, spicy mayo and unagi sauce. It’s simply the best.
