It is no secret amongst adults, that we all want to take “a bite” of mac ‘n cheese, snag a piece[s] of Halloween candy and steal sips of hot chocolate from the kids in our lives. The excuse that the treat is for them, is the ticket to having it ourselves!
That is not the case when it comes to the ganache hot chocolate Deer Valley Resort is serving this winter. You will most certainly want a cup all to yourself, alongside their famous chocolate chip cookies at Snowshoe Tommy’s.
The Sweet Scoop
On a typical ski day, you can expect to find (often powdered) hot chocolate served at any ski resort. But at Snowshoe Tommy’s, you can expect an elevated experience of ganache hot chocolate available on mountain. The resort imports the chocolate from Guittard Chocolate Company out of California. To make five gallons of the cocoa it takes about thirty minutes to fully incorporate the chocolate with a mixture of whole milk and cream. High quality ingredients, spices and real chocolate give every cup a richer taste – guaranteeing a decadent kid-friendly, but adult-craved treat. To provide this on mountain experience the resort utilizes Sterling Express chairlift, snowmobiles and even a snowcat to bring up the necessary ingredients and create the final tasty beverage.

The Experience
To enjoy this specialty ganache hot chocolate, hit the slopes of Deer Valley Resort and take Sterling Express lift to the top of Bald Mountain. Then head over to Snowshoe Tommy’s, a cabin situated right near the top of the lift. Once inside, you will see four machines that were imported from Europe swirling the hot beverage. The machines are designed to keep the drink ready on demand, yet the perfect consistency while it waits for you to show up.
And the fun doesn’t stop there. You can top your cocoa off with house made vanilla whipped cream, marshmallows, butterscotch, peppermint, M&Ms and chocolate chips. Don’t forget to get one of the resort’s cookies alongside for dunking!
