Butcher’s Chophouse: sweet cinnamon

There’s a lot going on in Butchers’ cinnamon Chimichanga. A deep-fried tortilla is filled with banana cheesecake, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and topped with warm caramel topping. And yet, somehow, it all works in a delightful combination of flavors and textures. Even chocolate lovers might be tempted to step outside their comfort zone to get a bite of this!!

Say the word cake, and delicate dessert consumers may immediately shy away, expecting a slice of something rich and chocolatey (not that there’s anything wrong with that!). However, we were intrigued by Glitretind’s reinvention of classic German chocolate cake. With a little stretch of the imagination, you can see a whisper of the classic version in a dessert that is every bit as elegant as its location in Stein Ericksen Lodge. Imaginative and inventive, this dessert is composed of coconut dacquoise, almond gel, milk chocolate pecan chantilly and cocoa cake.

Speaking of inventive ingredients, J&G Grill, located in The St. Regis Deer Valley, is a pro at dreaming up unique creations. Their dessert menu demonstrates this talent from start to finish. We promise you, they’re all so good, you’ll be hard-pressed to pick just one. From coconut pavlova to key lime cheesecake, there are flavors and textures present in these desserts that will speak loudly to your sweet tooth. But on the tail end of the summer season, we’re opting for their buttermilk shortcake. Rich with flavor, while still feeling light overall, the shortcake is topped with mascarpone mousse, lavender syrup and macerated strawberries.

Too often, desserts are stuffed with dairy and flour products that aren’t inclined toward those with food restrictions. If you’re looking for a dessert that’s both vegan and gluten-free, the Madeleines at 350 Main are the ticket.
