New Restaurant Coming To Main This Winter

This winter will bring some snow and now some fire. A new restaurant concept, Firewood, is gearing up to open this December on Main Street. Firewood will offer a unique dining experience where your food is cooked over an open flame. They are currently renovating the former Cisero’s space at 306 Main Street.
After living in Park City for 20 years, Chef John Murcko took a brief hiatus and moved to Sun Valley, but is now back and ready to bring open flame cooking to Park City. Chef Murcko has an impressive resume, from Bill White to Talisker and was voted Best Chef in Utah of 2011 by Salt Lake Magazine.

He is opening the restaurant with his wife Kelly and parents Bill and Betty. Chef Murcko developed this concept from how he was cooking at his cabin in Escalante. “We’ve wanted to do this for a long time,” Bill said.

Firewood will seat 150 guests, with a 14 foot custom made grill as the centerpiece of the whole restaurant. The amazing grill comes from the talented folks at Grillworks.

The interior will have  brick walls and reclaimed wood floors with industrial finishes, aiming for a Soho, Tribeca feel. They want the space to give the impression of a warehouse.

Renovations to Cisero’s former space.

The restaurant will also feature an open kitchen to watch Murcko cooking, as well as a chefs table adjacent to kitchen to offer an intimate, in-the-kitchen dining experience. There will not be any gas used on the line, and only wood cooking with a smoker, coals and grills will be used. Think burying fish in coals!
