Play and Eat at Utah Olympic Park

During the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, the Utah Olympic Park  hosted bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, nordic ski jumping and nordic combined events. Today, the venue is an active official U.S. Olympic training site, providing a training center for Olympic and development level athletes as well as a fun place to act like an Olympian.

In addition to bobsledding, extreme tubing, ropes courses, zip lines and more, you can also relax at the park by visiting the free museum or The Silver Bean Cafe, which offers guests great views and food, and a new chef has been playing with the menu to make it as fun as the park.

Chef Gardner, originally from Canada, has only been at the UOP for a short  time, but he is already putting his own signature touches on the cafe. We visited chef Gardner before embarking on our first bobsled experience, and while our adrenaline was almost too high to eat, we couldn’t resist his tasty bites. He is excited to share his home country’s dish: poutine. Poutine consists of fries, cheese curds and brown gravy. Chef Gardner stands wholeheartedly by this dish and don’t even ask — he’s not sharing his secret gravy recipe. That’s fine, we will just have to come back. He also showcased his extremely crispy onion rings, his Bobsled Club and his Grilled Cheese, Cheese, Cheese on a delightfully toasty baguette.

Next time you’re at Utah Olympic Park, stop by the cafe, say hello to the chef to see what he’s dishing up and grab a bite to eat as memorable as your experience at the park.
