A Celebration of Olive Oil — and More Seasonal Fun Ahead at The Dainty Pear

Fall is a good excuse to take the scenic route.

Just outside Park City in Midway, The Dainty Pear Co. has built the kind of place that rewards a leisurely afternoon. Shelves are lined with olive oils, vinegars and pantry finds, alongside pretty things for the kitchen and home. Add The Olive Press Café and a steady lineup of classes and events, and there are plenty of reasons to stay awhile.

This fall, the shop is adding even more reasons to come on in.

Olive Press Cafe

Start With Olive Oil

The Dainty Pear’s olive oil collection is a natural place to begin. Most of its oils are sourced from Italy, with a Spanish option also available, and the emphasis is firmly on quality.

The collection includes early-harvest, extra virgin, cold-pressed oils bottled in dark glass to help protect what’s inside. Flavored varieties incorporate ingredients such as garlic and rosemary, offering easy inspiration for everything from salads and roasted vegetables to bread and pasta.

From Monday, Sept. 28, through Saturday, Oct. 3, the shop is also highlighting its oils with a special promotion and pairing opportunities, giving visitors a chance to taste their way through the collection and discover a few new favorites.

Celebrate National Cookbook Month

October brings another excuse to browse. In celebration of National Cookbook Month, The Dainty Pear will spotlight its cookbook collection, including founder Sarah Clark’s “Grounded: Feel-Good, Real Food” and “Grounded Holidays.”

On Oct. 5, look for cookbook markdowns, a special promotion and a giveaway featuring the “Grounded” titles.

It’s an easy opportunity to pick up a little inspiration for fall cooking — or get an early start on holiday gifting.

Get Schooled on Pasta

On Oct. 25, Pasta Day turns the focus to another favorite pantry staple. An in-store display will explore how different pasta shapes work with different sauces and accompaniments, giving shoppers a chance to learn a little while stocking the pantry.

For anyone who has ever stared at a wall of pasta and wondered whether the shape actually matters, this is your excuse to investigate.

Ease Into the Holiday Season

Keep an eye out for The Dainty Pear’s fall mocktail class during the first week of November — a fun chance to learn a few festive, alcohol-free drinks just in time for the holiday season.

Then, from Nov. 12-14, Le Marché promises to transform The Dainty Pear into a European-style holiday market. The three-day event will feature specialty vendors alongside treats and finds inspired by markets across Europe. Think German pretzels, drinking chocolate, lavender bouquets, baguettes, butter, chocolate-covered strawberries and traditional seasonal décor.

Ornaments, nutcrackers, windmills and letters to Santa will add to the festive atmosphere. Admission is free, but reserving your ticket ahead of time is encouraged!

Tis’ the Season

With seasonal tastings, cookbook celebrations, pasta inspiration and a European-style holiday market on the calendar, The Dainty Pear has plenty lined up for fall. For Park City visitors and locals, Midway makes an easy afternoon escape — especially when the destination comes with lunch at the Olive Press Cafe, great olive oil, beautiful pantry finds and events any foodie will want on their radar.

If you’re looking for an excuse to make the drive this season, consider this several!

Melissa Thomasma

In full rebellion against the unpredictable climate of the Rocky Mountains, you can find Melissa on her Teton Valley deck grilling any month of the year. Typically in flip flops. Snow, rain, wind… no weather is too fierce. She’s a lover of peaches in any form, has a borderline addiction to arugula, and (strangely) has been known to drizzle soy sauce on pizza. But even more than she loves her stand mixer and cast iron collection, she adores cooking for her husband and two kids. When this Jackson Hole native isn’t scurrying around her messy kitchen, she’s probably outside floating the river, hiking, camping, fishing, or, well… grilling.
