A Spirited Pairing: Tupelo Welcomes Tequila Komos to Park City

There are tequila dinners, and then there are dinners that make you rethink what tequila can do at the table.

On Thursday, Sept. 24, tupelo Park City is teaming up with Tequila Komos for a four-course pairing dinner built around bold flavors, polished pours and a little late-September indulgence.

Komos Tequila

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., chef-owner Matthew Harris will pair four dishes with four expressions from Tequila Komos. A representative from the distillery will guide guests through each pour, served neat and lightly chilled in a wine glass.

Four Courses, Four Expressions

Tequila Komos takes inspiration from Mediterranean winemaking traditions and ages its spirits in French oak wine barrels, creating expressions designed to hold their own well beyond the cocktail glass.

At tupelo, that means tequila gets a seat at the table from the first course to dessert.

The evening’s menu includes:

  • Yellowfin tuna crudo with mango and osetra caviar, paired with Añejo Cristalino
  • Duck confit agnolotti with pomegranate mole, paired with Reposado Rosa
  • Sous-vide Niman lamb loin with black truffle, paired with Añejo Reserva
  • Apple pavlova with smoked pecans and caramel, paired with Extra Añejo

The lineup moves from bright and delicate to rich and deeply savory, finishing on a smoky-sweet note. In other words: exactly the kind of dinner that turns an ordinary Thursday night into something worth savoring.

Tupelo

An Intuitive Fit for Tupelo

The dinner feels right at home at tupelo, where Harris has built a menu around travel, craftsmanship and the producers behind every ingredient.

His Southern roots meet global influences throughout the restaurant’s cooking, while tupelo’s own micro-farm in Midway supplies pesticide-free produce including heirloom tomatoes, squash, Swiss chard, arugula, spinach, cucumbers and rhubarb.

The result is food that feels refined but never overly formal — thoughtful, layered and grounded in a real sense of place.

Tupelo has earned Wine Spectator’s Best of Excellence since 2019 and was named Salt Lake Magazine’s 2024 Best Restaurant. For this dinner, that same curiosity turns toward tequila and the many ways it can complement a carefully composed plate.

Melissa Thomasma

In full rebellion against the unpredictable climate of the Rocky Mountains, you can find Melissa on her Teton Valley deck grilling any month of the year. Typically in flip flops. Snow, rain, wind… no weather is too fierce. She’s a lover of peaches in any form, has a borderline addiction to arugula, and (strangely) has been known to drizzle soy sauce on pizza. But even more than she loves her stand mixer and cast iron collection, she adores cooking for her husband and two kids. When this Jackson Hole native isn’t scurrying around her messy kitchen, she’s probably outside floating the river, hiking, camping, fishing, or, well… grilling.
